With a new phone coming out every other month, gadgets become an expensive habit. For me, that’s where Sim Only contracts come to play. I regularly change phones so need a contract that is flexible.
Most recently I bought a Samsung Galaxy 2 but after a few months the Blackberry Bold 9900 came out and being a phone freak, I naturally wanted it. The sleek lines, the metal rim and Blackberries customary keyboard made it hard to resist.
To buy it offline was £400 so I went online and listed my Samsung Galaxy S2 on Ebay and Gumtree. I really loved this phone but I wanted to get something new, I didn’t want to give it up. I had to, though, because I didn’t have £400 spare laying around.
A few days later my before my listing ended on Ebay I received a call from someone who saw my advert on Gumtree. He tried and tried to haggle the price down to a measly £200. I would not budge! £350 or nothing I told him. My Galaxy S2 was in mint condition and with the added bonus of Samsung’s 2 year warranty period so I settled for £325. I went out eagerly to buy a Bold 9900 and added £75 for the brand new handset.
In retrospect, I regret buying the 9900… I miss my Galaxy S2! Haha!
As I wasn’t tied to a contract I could sell and buy phones without being tied down to 18 or even 24 month contracts. All I have is my SIM Only contract so I am free to use whatever phone I want!
